1. Oversee and collect data on the strategic plan for Area 1.
2. Advise and support the working groups to ensure alignment with HI as needed.
3. Report progress to Council and HI.
4. Attend meetings and lead sessions upon request of Area 1 Director.
5. May choose an assistant (who will be mentored to take over the position if necessary).

Role:
The Area 1 Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Representative shall be the key liaison between the Area Council members and the Harmony Incorporated Equity and Diversity Committee (EDC).

Responsibilities:
1. Attend Area 1 Council Meetings as a non-voting member in support of EDI discussions and recommendations
2. Participate in Harmony Inc EDI Round Table discussions
3. Participate in and support HI EDI initiatives
4. Engage in 2-way communications with Area 1 Director to represent Area 1 related requests and concerns to HI EDI and also to report on strategies, decisions and actions from HI to Area
5. Engage in 2-way communication with Area Council and HI EDI to represent Area 1 requests and concerns to HI and also to report on decisions, strategies and actions from HI to Area 1 Council
6. Upon request of Area 1 Director, contribute to Area 1 Communications (eg Ensemble Newsletter), education and actions required to support and enhance the role of EDI throughout the Area
7. Contribute to HI communications, subject to approval from Area Director.
8. Provide EDI support and guidance to Area 1 Chapters and Associate Members as requested
9. Offer input into Area Strategic Plans as they relate to EDI
10. Make recommendations to Council and Chapter Boards to develop and implement strategies in support of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (eg retention and growth)
